PROMO MOVIE

First Planet-ON is resolved!

First Planet-ON is resolved! During the weekend of 4-5 December, 41 people in 10 teams competed for financial prizes, internships and trips abroad. During 24 hours they created solutions for climate problems set by the Partners in the areas of water, ergonomy, waste, awareness, energy. At the end, the participants gave 8-minute presentations, in which they convinced the judges of their projects. After long discussions the judges decided to award 3 teams, presenting their solutions: Energy-saving smart home, recognition of vehicles and people taking garbage to the forest, gamification of the process of reporting and removing abandoned waste. As emphasized by the participants, Planet-ON is not only challenges, prizes and diplomas. First and foremost, it is an opportunity to meet (live!) cool people and develop skills that are neglected at universities, such as public speaking, making a suggestive argument, or working in interdisciplinary teams. By combining the forces of visionaries, graphic designers, economists and computer scientists, Planet-ON teams gain a real impact on reality. What distinguishes Planet-ON from other hackathons is its strong focus on implementation - that's why the Future Labs team will coordinate further development of submitted solutions in collaboration with their authors. Especially for Planet-ON we have set up a chillout zone in the attic, where participants could play guitar, weave a hammock, practice yoga, race in Xbox, or carelessly sleep. We are already looking forward to the second edition of Planet-ON on November 19-20, 2022!

G&J

1 st PRIZE

Have you ever wondered how to limit your energy? You probably thought about turning off the lights in unused rooms. What if you use technology for this? This was the solution proposed by students from the G&J team. Using bluetooth technology, they located inhabitants of flats and houses. The use of this technology that they propose includes music throughout the house adapted to each of the household members or the automatic switching off of the light after leaving the room.

2 nd PRIZE

Rubbish in forests is a very big problem. Not only do they destroy nature, but they are also an unpleasant surprise for people who want to have a good time. TDE otders' solution to this problem is an application for reporting illegal garbage dumps. Currently, people who want to report such a place must call the municipal police, which often do not have time to get involved in each report. The introduction of this type of application is not only a way to relieve the municipal police, but also a way to build awareness and social responsibility, which may lead to the reduction of this type of landfills in the future.

HARDCODED

3 rd PRIZE

Image recognition and drone flights - two extremely complex technologies. Only large research units could start working on combining them - right? Not necessarily. The team from our hackathon wants to fight illegal landfills using these two technologies. By flying sufficiently low over the forest surface, they are able to take accurate photos of the litter along with the location of landfills, and these data can already be combined with, for example, photo-shelves in front of each entry. But as if that was not enough - their algorithm additionally recognizes the type of this garbage. Thanks to this, foresters / municipal police are able to react to the most harmful waste much faster than to the less harmful one

WHAT WAS IT ABOUT

10 000+ PLN POOL OF PRIZES: cash, internships, trips... PLANET-ON is a 24h marathon connecting innovators from all sectors solving real-life challenges for smarter industry and safer PLANET. On December 4th to 5th innovators, designers, developers, experts, climate fighters, researchers will create teams to design/prototype solutions in 5 areas: AWARENESS, ENERGY, ERGONOMY, WATER and WASTE. Authors of best solutions will be rewarded and may be invited to continue their work until its implementation. Below you will find examples of challenges and hardware you can use if interested. You are free to propose your own challenge.

AWARENESS
Communities & organizations around the Planet need to improve awareness and knowledge exchange machanism in order to impove the change driving processes.
ENERGY
Let's propose new small or bold steps towards improving access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy.
ERGONOMY
Responsible industrial employers seek for the right balance between cost-effective automation and the ergonomies of human workstations to create the biggest added value.
WASTE
Let's propose improvements in the industrial approach to mainstream production and consumption patterns.
WATER
Sustainability means creating an equitable society for people today and protecting resources for future generations.

Before Planet-on propose your own challenge or select one of the challenge examples below and REGISTER.

During Planet-on prototype one solution in the form of a working prototype and/or a powerpoint/figma/video presentation explaining/visualizing your concept.

Optionally, our industrial & scientfic partners may give you access to real-life data, apps, hardware and insights about why & how their challenges can support their employees and/or climate.

After PLANET-ON best teams will be invited to continue their work in collaboration with the challenge-related organizations and other participants.
